Why do I thrive in live poker but struggle with online games?

Overview:

I’ve maintained a positive ROI in live tournaments after many years of play, yet my success doesn’t translate to online sit-and-go or MTT games on ACR. I seldom reach the cashing stage when playing online, and I’m not utilizing any HUD tools during these sessions.

Question:

Am I missing something in my online strategy, or could there be inherent issues with the platform itself?

hey kate, online is a differnt beast. its all speed and numbers with less reads. try tweaking your strategy & maybe do some replay reviews to see trends. a small shift could help bridge that gap you feel.

Hey Kate_Borealis, I’ve definitely been there. One thing that’s really helped me is embracing the fact that online play is almost like a different game altogether. In live poker, you get that extra layer of reading your opponents – their behavior, emotions, even just little physical tells. But when you’re online, it’s all about numbers, timing, and those subtle betting patterns. I found that switching gears and adjusting my approach to focus more on game flow and adaptation really made a difference. Also, don’t underestimate how much even small tweaks in your setup or using tools (or at least some form of data review) can shift your win rate. It might be useful to simulate some of that in your own style if you’re not into HUDs – maybe even using hand history reviews to spot trends you might otherwise miss. Every medium has its quirks, but with a bit of adjustment, you can definitely bridge that gap. Good luck, and keep at it!

i found that online poker requires a kind of mindset thats a bit more disciplined and analytical. in my expierence, adjusting to the rapid pace and reduced nuance of tells can be challenging. instead of relying on read cues, i had to focus more on structural factors like timing and betting quantaties. studying hand histories and slightly modifying my betting ranges helped me uncover trends i missed initially. its not merely a different platform but a different form of the game that demands slight, yet important strategty shifts.
