Should gambling be completely banned?

Gambling presents significant risks of addiction and harm. With current safeguards in question, is a complete prohibition a more effective solution?

Hey everyone, I know we’re all trying to find a good middle ground here. I’m leaning towards thinking that a full ban might be too one-sided. I get the worry over addiction and the personal stories that make it a heated debate, but for me, it’s a bit like taking away a bit of personal choice and even some local economic benefits in the process. In a lot of places, gambling is a historic pastime and a source of tax revenue that helps fund important social programs. Rather than completely shutting it down, why not focus on improving education about the risks and offering solid support for those who need it? I think tuning up our current systems—better customer protections, more reliable self-exclusion options, and thoughtful advertising rules—can help address the downsides without throwing out the whole thing. It’s all about finding that smart balance. Cheers!

i guess banning gambling completely isnt ideal, regs and rehab are better focusers. most ppl can handle it w proper limits while addicts get the help they need. banning might just drive it underground.

i beleve that a full ban on gambling may not be the device to fix issues relted to addiction and underground markets. my experience has shown that proper regulation and support, including accessible treatment options, often yield better results than an outright prohibition. banning gambling could merely drive these activities underground, making it harder to aid those in need. hence, a strictly monitored environment alongside effective public health measures appears to be a more balanced approach to address gambling related harms.
