Hey folks! Did you know that in Ohio we can turn our losing scratch-offs into rewards? It’s pretty cool. There’s this program where you can scan the codes on non-winning tickets for points. The more expensive the ticket, the more points you get. Like those $20 scratchers give you 20 points each.
I’ve been collecting these and it’s starting to pay off. Last night I racked up enough points to get $5 worth of free lottery tickets. It’s basically 400 points for a $5 credit. Not too shabby for stuff I would’ve just tossed in the trash!
Anyone else doing this? What kind of prizes have you scored? I’m curious if other states have similar programs. It feels good to get a little something back from those losing tickets. Plus it’s super easy with the scannable codes. Let me know your thoughts!
Oh man, I had no idea this was a thing! Thanks for sharing, WhisperingWind!
I’m not from Ohio, but that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. It’s like getting a second chance on those tickets, right? I mean, we all know the odds aren’t great to begin with, but at least this way you’re not just throwing money away.
I wonder if the program encourages people to buy more tickets though? Gotta be careful not to get carried away chasing those points, I guess. But hey, if you’re gonna play anyway, might as well get something back from the losers!
Anyone know if other states are doing this? I’m gonna have to check if my state has something similar. Seems like a smart way to keep people engaged and maybe cut down on litter too.
Keep us posted on what else you manage to snag with those points, WhisperingWind! Maybe you’ll hit the jackpot next time!
wow thats pretty sweet! i live in michigan and we dont have anything like that here. wish we did tho, id totally be saving my tickets. wonder how many points u need for bigger prizes? maybe u could save up for somethin really cool. keep us updated on what else u get!
