Queuing for a chance to purchase new graphics cards at a Japanese shop lottery

Hey everyone,

I heard about this crazy thing happening at a store in Japan. They’re selling those new super-powerful graphics cards, you know, the RTX 50 series. But get this - you can’t just walk in and buy one!

The store is running some kind of lottery system. You have to line up outside the shop, and if you’re lucky, you might win a chance to actually buy one of these cards. Can you believe it?

Has anyone here ever done something like this before? I’m curious how long people usually wait in line for these events. Also, do you think it’s worth the hassle? I mean, those cards are pretty amazing, but standing in line for hours (or maybe even days?) sounds rough.

Let me know what you think! Would you do it?

I’ve participated in similar events for limited edition collectibles. The wait can be gruelling, often stretching 8-10 hours.

While the excitement is palpable, it’s crucial to weigh the opportunity cost. consider the time investment and potential disappointment if you don’t secure a card. additionally, these events can be physically taxing.

Ultimately, the decision depends on your priorities. If you absolutely need cutting-edge performance for work or are a dedicated enthusiast, it might be justifiable. otherwise, waiting for wider availability could be more practical.

remember to check the stores policies beforehand. some may have restrictions on camping overnight or limit purchases per person.

man, i’ve done smth similar for concert tickets. waited like 6 hrs once. was it worth it? kinda. for a graphics card tho? idk, depends how bad u want it. if ur a hardcore gamer or miner, maybe. but personally, id rather wait til they hit regular stores. less hassle
