At a Philadelphia gas station, I observed inconsistent enforcement of PA Skill Machines versus slot machines. Are both prohibited, and how is cashing out possible?
hey, i think each station goes by local law, so enforcement on slot machienes and skill machines differs alot. cashouts are usually allowed, it seems more of a grey area rather then a strict ban. not sure if that clears things up tho.
Hey Oliver, I’ve been curious about this too – it does seem like there’s a lot of variability in how these machines are treated. From what I’ve read and seen, it looks like some spots tweak their implementation to work around the stricter gambling laws. That means a machine that’s technically a game of skill might have a way to let you cash out, while a traditional slot machine might not be given the same leniency. It really depends on how the local authorities and the business owners interpret the law. I’m no expert, but it seems like some gas stations have found workarounds that make it a bit of a mixed bag. Best bet is to keep an eye on local regulations or even ask the station staff for a bit more detail – sometimes they can shed light on why things work the way they do. Cheers!
